Youth Action Projects

Following the Conference, participants move from ideas into action and form a group of fellow students/youth to create a change making project that addresses the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

Projects are flexible! They can raise money, awareness; or join a non-governmental organization (NGO) in fulfilling an organization's objectives. Anything that operates on a think globally, act locally theme. Students can choose their topic and format and use the Toolkit as a Resource. Anything is possible!

Projects included:

  • Halloween for Hunger to raise money for Free the Children
  • 30 Hour Famine raising awareness and funds to be a part of ending poverty and hunger
  • Silent auctions
  • Car washes
  • Awareness campaigns
  • International dinners for the NGO and Millennium Development Goal of your choice!

CAYFO staff will communicate with groups to monitor projects to ensure the group has the resources they need to move forward.

Youth Action encourages you to become active in the interests of your community. It is giving you real opportunities to play key roles and ownership in designing and delivering projects. You will find inspiration, get involved, and take action in your local and the global community.

Meaningful youth involvement benefits both youth and the community. Youth engagement allows young people to learn skills, connect with other youth, have your voices heard and be better equipped to make change.

What is involved?

  1. Participate! Become engaged; what issues is important to you that benefits others and makes positive change? What are your priorities?
  2. Plan! Take time to build relationships with other interested youth or organizations.
  3. Act! Take on a project! Identify key issues and plan a project to voice your concerns and improve your community.
